19 Neo-Futurist Plays from Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind

For my Theatre Arts Senior Capstone project, I directed a production of 19 Neo-Futurist Plays from Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind by Greg Allen. I brought the Neo-Futurist aesthetic to Flagler College for the very first time with a cast of four actors, and even played a role or two in the production myself.

Too Much Light is not a traditional play, in that it is a production made up of a range of two-minute plays that could be satirical, dramatic, absurd, farcical, surrealist, expressionist, personal, political, abstract, any of the above. Each play is its own entity. When I decided to direct it for my senior capstone project, I did not have the full 60 minutes typically allotted to perform 30 Neo-Futurist plays. We got 35 minutes. So I curated 19 of the plays: some that were my own choices and some that were iconic plays from the original production, to deliver a hearty taste of the Neo-Futurist aesthetic at Flagler.
